It is unlawful to leave any abandoned, partially dismantled, non-operating, wrecked or junked vehicle on public or private premises in unincorporated Allen County. The county Building Department can remove and dispose of it.
Allen County Code Title 6, Article 9 makes it unlawful to abandon a vehicle, or to leave any partially dismantled, non-operating, wrecked or junked vehicle, on any public or private premises in the unincorporated county. It adopts Indiana's Abandoned Vehicle Act (IC 9-22). The Allen County Building Department is the enforcement agency and may remove, store and dispose of such vehicles; under IC 9-22-1-13(b) it may dispose of a vehicle worth $500 or less. Owners may instead voluntarily sign an abandoned-vehicle removal waiver.
County may tow and impound; maximum charges are $200 per tow and $50 per day storage (Allen County Code 6-9-6), billed to the owner.
