Casper, WY Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Section 10.36.020(B) of the Casper Municipal Code, part of Chapter 10.36's parking rules adopted by Ordinance No. 12-10 in 2010, singles out large commercial vehicles for stricter treatment than ordinary passenger cars. No one may park a commercial vehicle longer than twenty feet or wider than eight feet, or any truck tractor or semitrailer of any size, on a city street or alley unless the location is in an area zoned business or industrial on the city's zoning district map. The only exception for a vehicle parked outside those zones is while it is actively loading or unloading at the origin or delivery point of a shipment.

The section adds an absolute rule with no zoning exception at all for hazardous cargo: no commercial vehicle, truck tractor, or semitrailer of any dimension may park anywhere in the city while loaded with live animals or with hazardous material as defined by U.S. Department of Transportation regulations. Smaller commercial trucks, twenty feet or less in length, get a narrower allowance: they may be parked only in front of the vehicle owner's own property, or in front of a job site while work is actively underway there.

A violation is enforced as a misdemeanor under Section 10.36.050, with towing or impoundment available under Section 10.36.040 once a vehicle has accumulated three unpaid citations more than thirty days past due.
