Casper, WY Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Casper Municipal Code § 10.36.020(A) sets out the city's core on-street parking bans, enforced by the Casper Police Department and the city manager's designee. The rule opens by prohibiting parking on a sidewalk, then in a parkway strip next to a street unless at least two twelve-foot travel lanes and two eight-foot parking lanes remain available, subject to Parking Manual permit rules. It separately bans parking in front of any public or private driveway or garage entrance, on a street or in an alley, within an intersection, within fifteen feet of a fire hydrant, or on a crosswalk.

Parking within twenty feet of a crosswalk or an intersection is likewise unlawful unless the public services director specifically permits it. Double parking, defined as stopping on the roadway side of a vehicle already parked at the curb, is separately prohibited. The section also fixes how a car must sit: every vehicle must be parked parallel to the roadway edge, headed in the direction of lawful traffic (so no facing the wrong way against traffic), with its curbside wheels no more than eighteen inches from the curb, except in marked diagonal spaces, where the outside front wheel must sit within six inches of the curb.

These are baseline prohibitions layered on top of whatever the Parking Manual separately restricts by street or zone. Violations of § 10.36.020 are misdemeanors under Casper Municipal Code § 10.36.050, and repeat or unpaid citations can lead to towing or immobilization of the vehicle under the same chapter's enforcement provisions.
