Casper, WY Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

Section 17.12.100 sets Casper's off-street loading standard for larger commercial and industrial buildings. Any retail establishment, storage warehouse, industrial plant, manufacturing establishment, freight terminal or wholesale establishment with ten thousand square feet or more of gross floor area intended for that use must provide loading docks or loading spaces. If the building uses open loading spaces rather than docks, each space must measure sixty feet in length by ten feet in width, and one space is required for every ten thousand square feet of floor area.

If the building instead uses loading docks, one dock is required for every ten thousand to fifty thousand square feet of floor area, and each dock must have twelve hundred square feet set aside for a turnaround area plus a twenty-by-sixty-foot ingress and egress lane. Subsection B sets an overall floor for the loading area itself, not less than ten feet wide and twenty-five feet long with fourteen feet of unobstructed vertical clearance, and it must be adjacent to and reachable from a street, highway or alley.

Subsection C requires the loading facility to sit adjacent to the structure it serves rather than on a remote part of the site. The site plan checklist in § 17.12.150(K) makes applicants show the location and dimensions of every proposed loading dock area before the city will approve the plan.
