Corvallis, OR Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Corvallis addresses oversize commercial trailers on residential streets through a flat parking ban rather than a permit system. Section 6.10.040.050(1) makes it unlawful to park a trailer, using the Oregon Vehicle Code's own definition at ORS 801.560, or any part of one, on any street inside a residential zone within the City limits. The rule applies to the trailer itself and to detached parts, so dropping a disconnected trailer axle or box at the curb counts the same as parking the whole rig. Section 6.10.040.050(2) carves out one defense: if the trailer was parked to load or unload goods, materials, or equipment at a property abutting the residential street, and that property has no other way to receive the delivery, the owner can raise that as a defense to a citation.

The Section sits inside Chapter 6.10, the General Traffic Code, so it works alongside the Chapter's other commercial-vehicle-adjacent limits, including the 48-hour parking cap in Section 6.10.040.040(4) and the ban on parking any vehicle in a yard except on a paved driveway in Section 6.10.040.040(6). Because Chapter 6.10 carries a single penalty clause covering the whole chapter, a trailer-parking violation is punished the same way as any other Section 6.10 offense: Section 6.10.080.010 allows a fine of up to $150.00, community service, and/or impoundment of the vehicle involved, all at the discretion of the Municipal Court on conviction.

The Corvallis Police Department issues the citations and can order impoundment under the Chapter 6.14 towing provisions when a parked trailer meets that Chapter's criteria.
