Greece, NY Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Section 157-8C of the Property Maintenance Code governs the storage and parking of motor vehicles, commercial vehicles and recreational vehicles in the Town of Greece, and subsection (3) sets the commercial-vehicle rule directly: the parking of a single commercial vehicle is permitted, provided that the load capacity of said vehicle does not exceed one ton. A resident cannot keep two or more commercial trucks on the property, and even a single qualifying vehicle loses its exemption once its rated load capacity tops one ton, at which point the outdoor storage and parking restrictions in § 157-8C(1) apply in full: no parking in the tree lawn, no encroachment on a pedestrian walk, fire lane, driveway or required parking spaces, and no interference with the safe use of adjoining premises, public rights-of-way, or a building's required exit.

The section cross-references the substantive standard to Chapter 211, Zoning, meaning both the Property Maintenance Code and the Zoning Code work together to define what is allowed. Garages used for private, noncommercial storage separately cap total vehicles at four per premises under § 157-8C(2). Building Inspector staff enforce these limits the same way they enforce the rest of Chapter 157: a violation triggers written notice under § 157-18 describing the condition and setting a compliance deadline of at least five days. An owner who keeps an oversized or a second commercial vehicle on site after that deadline is subject to the penalty in § 157-20B, a fine up to $1,000 or imprisonment up to 15 days, or both, with each day of continued violation a separate offense.
