Commercial trucks, tractors, and trailers cannot park on any Lee's Summit street for more than two hours except while loading or at a job site. Heavy commercial vehicles over one ton are also banned from residential storage.
Chapter 29, Sec. 29-379 makes it unlawful to park a commercial motor vehicle, trailer, tractor, or truck-tractor on any city street for more than two hours, except in front of the business it serves during business hours or at an active construction site. A commercial motor vehicle is one licensed over 18,000 pounds. Separately, the Property Maintenance Code (Sec. 16-204, Section 302.11.2) bans storing or parking vehicles licensed over one ton in residential districts, except for deliveries. Certain streets are also posted off-limits to commercial traffic under Sec. 29-9.
Exceeding the two-hour street limit or storing an oversized commercial vehicle in a residential area is an ordinance violation; vehicles may be ticketed and, if obstructing, impounded under Sec. 29-60.
