Vehicles in Lee's Summit must be parked on hard-surfaced driveways or pads—asphalt, concrete, or engineered pavers—not on lawns or the unpaved right-of-way. Recreational vehicles and trailers face added size and pad requirements by driveway width.
The Property Maintenance Code (Ch. 16, Sec. 16-204) requires recreational vehicles, boats, and trailers to be stored only on hard surfaces engineered to bear their weight, and accessory pads must be permanently connected to the driveway. Passenger vehicles likewise cannot be parked on the unpaved portion of the public right-of-way beyond the curb (Ch. 29, Sec. 29-357). Driveways and parking areas must be kept in good repair and free of hazards (Section 302.3). Gravel drives predating the ordinance are grandfathered, and lots of one acre or more are exempt from the hard-surface rule.
Parking on grass or an unimproved surface is a Property Maintenance Code violation, cited by Neighborhood Services after notice, with fines from $50 to $500 and each day a separate offense.
