Provo City Code 9.32.090 bars trucks rated 1.5 tons or more (or licensed over 18,000 lbs gross) from parking on residential public streets for more than 2 hours (8 hours absolute max) except while actively loading or unloading.
Provo City Code Section 9.32.090 (Parking of Trucks) provides that no truck or truck trailer with a rated capacity of one and one-half (1-1/2) tons or more, or licensed for more than eighteen thousand (18,000) pounds gross, may be parked on public streets in a residential area for more than two (2) hours except while actually loading or unloading merchandise, and in no event longer than eight (8) hours. Such trucks may not park on any public street closer than thirty (30) feet to the entrance, exit, or intersection of any private driveway, private street, alley, or public street. For purposes of the section, a truck is deemed parked - even with its motor running - if left standing for more than three (3) minutes while unattended by a driver. Heavier commercial vehicles are otherwise governed by the Utah Code Title 41 Chapter 6a traffic provisions.
Violations are enforced as civil parking infractions under Chapter 9.17 and may result in citation and towing; the 8-hour absolute cap applies even during loading/unloading.
