Riverside Municipal Code 10.52.155(a) makes it unlawful to park a commercial vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of 10,000 lbs or more, or any commercial trailer/semi-trailer, in residential areas except while actively loading or unloading; on-street commercial parking is only permitted on specifically signed industrial corridors.
Per Riverside Municipal Code section 10.52.155(a), it is unlawful to park a commercial vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 10,000 pounds or more, and all commercial trailers or semi-trailers, on public streets in residential areas. The City's Public Works Department confirms that the only exception in residential zones is active loading or unloading. Authorized on-street commercial vehicle parking in Riverside is limited to specifically posted segments of Box Springs Boulevard, Atlanta Avenue, Palmyrita Avenue, Marlborough Avenue, Northgate Street, Sycamore Canyon Boulevard, Arlington Avenue, Central Avenue, University Avenue, Alessandro Boulevard, and Columbia Avenue, where signs explicitly authorize commercial vehicle parking. Parking on any other street with a 10,000+ lb commercial vehicle, or with any commercial trailer or semi-trailer, is a citable violation regardless of duration. Off-street commercial vehicle storage on residential parcels is further restricted by Title 19 (Zoning) Chapter 19.580 Parking and Loading.
Complaints and violations are handled by Riverside Public Works at (951) 826-5311. Citations are issued under RMC 10.52.155 and are set by the City's bail schedule. Repeat violations and overweight commercial vehicles in residential zones may be towed at owner expense. Loading/unloading activity must be active and ongoing - parking a commercial truck overnight in a residential neighborhood is not protected by the loading exception.
