Per the City of Riverside Public Works Parking FAQ, RVs and boats may only be parked on public streets for 24 hours before and 24 hours after a trip for loading/unloading; longer on-street storage is prohibited, and stays of 5-15 days must be in the driveway under a Temporary Use Permit.
The City of Riverside Public Works Department's published Parking FAQ states that recreational vehicles (including RVs, trailers, and boats) may only remain on public residential streets for the 24-hour windows immediately before and after a trip, strictly for loading and unloading. Stays beyond that window of up to 5 days are tolerated on-street only if no electrical cords are run from the vehicle and no wastewater drains into the street or gutter. For stays of 5 to 15 days the RV must be moved into the driveway and the owner must obtain a Temporary Use Permit (TUP) from the City. Long-term storage of recreational vehicles, boats, and trailers in residential zones is regulated by Title 19 (Zoning) Chapter 19.580 Parking and Loading, which restricts where recreational equipment may be stored on a residential lot. Inoperable or unmoved vehicles are also subject to the 72-hour rule referenced in the FAQ; after a yellow 72-hour notice is placed, the vehicle must be moved at least 1,056 feet (0.2 miles) to comply.
Violations are enforced by Riverside Parking Services (951-826-5620) and by the 311 non-emergency call center. Vehicles left over 72 hours receive a yellow warning tag and may be cited or towed if not moved at least 1,056 feet. Standard Riverside parking citations are set by the City's Fees and Charges bail schedule. Operating an RV with wastewater draining to the street or with cords run across the sidewalk is an immediate code violation regardless of the 5-day window.
