Recreational vehicles, including boats, trailers, motor homes, and campers, may not park on city streets in residential districts except up to 48 hours twice a month for loading, unloading, or cleaning in front of the owner's or a host's residence.
JVMC section 12.25.010 defines recreational vehicles broadly to include boats, watercraft, utility trailers, motor homes, travel trailers, truck campers, and camping trailers. Section 12.25.140(A), added by Ordinance No. 2018-04, prohibits parking any recreational vehicle on a city highway within a residential district, with one exception: up to 48 hours, twice per month, directly in front of the RV owner's residence for loading, unloading, or cleaning, or in front of a host's residence with the owner's permission. Outside residential districts, subsection (B) allows a posted 2-hour limit on signed streets, and section 12.25.070(B) bans unattached trailers 25 feet or longer on city streets. Citations require signs posted per CVC 22507.
RVs parked in violation are subject to citation, but only after the Public Works Director erects or posts signs giving notice of the prohibition as required by JVMC 12.25.140(D) and Vehicle Code 22507.
