Springfield, OR Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Section 6.050(1) bars any restricted truck, defined in Section 6.250(1)(a) as a commercial or industrial truck with a gross weight of 10,000 pounds or more, from parking or standing on any Springfield street unless the street is a designated permitted truck route under Section 6.250(1)(b), the truck is actually loading or unloading, or the Department of Public Works has posted signs allowing truck parking there. Before authorizing that kind of on-street truck parking, public works must weigh the need for it against impacts on abutting property access, nearby businesses, and traffic and pedestrian safety, and can attach conditions to the approval.

The truck route system itself exists, per Section 6.250, to keep commercial and industrial truck traffic on streets built to handle vehicles over 10,000 pounds and to protect local residential streets from structural damage. Public works maintains the official truck route map for public review during business hours under Section 6.255(1) and can issue temporary permits letting a restricted truck travel off-route to reach an otherwise inaccessible destination. A restricted truck operator caught off-route without one of these exceptions is subject to the general parking penalty in Section 6.060 and, separately, violating the truck route requirement itself under Section 6.250 carries its own fine of not more than $500 under Section 6.250(4).
