Springfield, OR Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Springfield Municipal Code Section 6.005 governs how vehicles must stand or park on any city street, including a cul-de-sac: parallel to the roadway edge, headed with traffic, and with the curbside wheels within 12 inches of the curb, unless the block is marked for angled parking. Section 6.015 layers on specific bans: no parking on a bridge or elevated structure unless signed, no standing in an alley beyond 20 minutes except to load or unload, no parking to display a vehicle for sale, wash or repair it (beyond a one-hour emergency repair that does not block traffic), or sell merchandise without a transient merchant license.

A vehicle cannot sit in the parking strip between the curb and sidewalk, within any posted no-parking zone marked by signs or a yellow curb, or within 10 feet of a fire hydrant measured from the curb nearest the hydrant. Vehicles displaying expired registration tags, an expired temporary permit, or no plate at all are also prohibited from parking on the street. Section 6.010 makes the registered owner responsible for the penalty regardless of who was driving, unless someone used the car without the owner's consent.

The Springfield Police Department and patrol community service officers enforce these rules under Section 6.060 by marking, ticketing, or impounding noncompliant vehicles, and the city may also contract a certified private parking service to issue citations and collect fines.
