Westminster, CA Parking Rules: Commercial Vehicle Restrictions (2026)

The City of Westminster restricts commercial and large-vehicle parking under Westminster Municipal Code Section 10.44.250 (No parking of large vehicles on all streets - Exceptions). The ordinance prohibits parking any vehicle that exceeds 84 inches in width, measured at the widest portion of the body excluding mirrors and other extensions, or that exceeds 22 feet in length, or that exceeds 10,000 pounds in weight, on any city street, subject to limited exceptions in the code. Westminster's code enforcement program separately explains that oversized commercial vehicles do not belong in residential neighborhoods, reasoning that residential streets deteriorate rapidly under heavy truck weight and that the noise, diesel fumes, and visual impact harm neighborhood tranquility. Commercial vehicles loading or unloading are governed by Chapter 10.48: a yellow curb permits commercial loading only between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., and loading or unloading of materials may not exceed 20 minutes. These city limits are tighter and more specific than the California Vehicle Code, which lets local authorities regulate commercial vehicle parking. Drivers of trucks, trailers, and similar vehicles should not assume a residential block is available simply because no sign is posted; the size and weight thresholds apply citywide.
