Westminster prohibits parking any recreational vehicle on a city street without a valid RV permit from the Police Department. Effective January 1, 2025, residents may obtain up to twelve non-consecutive 24-hour permits per year, solely to load, unload, clean, or maintain before and after travel.
Under the City of Westminster's recreational vehicle ordinance (Westminster Municipal Code Chapter 10.44, RV permit provisions effective January 1, 2025), no one may park an RV on any public street or dedicated alley except under a permit issued by the Westminster Police Department. The department may issue a 24-hour RV parking permit to city residents for the sole purpose of loading, unloading, and cleaning or maintaining the vehicle before and after travel. Each resident may receive no more than twelve non-consecutive temporary permits per calendar year per residential address, with at least one day between each permit, and only one active permit per address at a time. The permit is valid only on a public street in front of the resident's address, or within 500 feet of the residence, whichever is closer, and the permittee may not stop, park, or leave the RV standing within 20 feet of any intersection. Permit holders must comply with street-sweeping parking rules. Permits are requested by emailing RVPermits@westminster-ca.gov with proof of residence and vehicle registration. A permit will not be issued to an RV with outstanding parking citations. This is a stricter, city-specific scheme than the California Vehicle Code, which does not require RV street permits.
Parking an RV on a Westminster street without a valid permit, exceeding the 24-hour permit window, parking within 20 feet of an intersection, or violating street-sweeping rules can result in citation and towing.
