DMC 22.08.230 sets curb colors: red means no stopping at any time, yellow is commercial loading (7 a.m.-6 p.m.), white is passenger loading (3 minutes), and green allows 20-minute parking. Only the city may authorize curb markings.
Section 22.08.230 of the Davis Municipal Code defines painted curb markings. Red means no stopping at any time, except as permitted by the state Vehicle Code and except a bus stopping in a marked red bus zone. Yellow means no stopping between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. except Sunday and holidays, other than loading passengers (up to three minutes) or materials (up to thirty minutes). White means no stopping other than loading passengers or depositing mail, up to three minutes, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. except Sundays and holidays. Green means no parking longer than twenty minutes, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. except Sunday and holidays, unless signs allow longer. Only the city traffic engineer may authorize curb markings.
Parking against a red, yellow, white or green curb contrary to its meaning, or painting a curb without city authorization, is a violation subject to citation.
