Full Breakdown
Subsection D of Section 15-5-503 requires that a vehicle at or under 8½ feet wide, 24 feet long, and 11 feet tall stored in a yard sit 'on a driveway that is constructed of a solid sealed surface,' defined in Section 15-5-501 as a surface 'maintained free of grass and weeds' that covers the entire area beneath the vehicle and is built of concrete, asphalt, paving stone, brick, or another load-bearing material approved by the director of community services. ' Subsections I and J add citywide limits: the driveway and its extension used for vehicle storage cannot exceed 50 percent of the total yard area, and no vehicle may be parked within 12 feet of the roadway edge or curb face, or block a sidewalk. '
Violations & Fines
Parking on an unapproved dirt or grass surface, or on a driveway that fails the solid-sealed-surface standard, is enforced through Section 15-5-506's Notice of Violation process, with fines of $100 for a first offense and at least $150 for each repeat offense under Section 15-5-507, each day of continued violation charged separately.
