Arvada, CO Parking Rules: EV Charging (2026)

Section 5-1-6-9 applies to any new development that dedicates parking to EV charging, and to existing sites that add or modify charging equipment. " Mixed-use and nonresidential sites with ten or fewer stations can place equipment anywhere on site as long as it meets the minimum parking front setback from public and private streets; sites with more than ten stations must instead follow the fueling/service station site design standards of Subsection 4-3-3-4(F). In the Olde Town (OT) zone district, stations must sit in a garage or internal to the site, behind a building, and out of view from a public street, and no station may be located in a required small urban park or bufferyard.

Site design rules in Subsection C add that stations along a public or private street need an Option B bufferyard between the equipment and the front property line, that installing a charger cannot shrink the parking stall below the minimum size in Subsection 4-5-3-2, that concrete wheel stops are required unless the parking is parallel, and that any canopy must meet the standards for canopies and port-cochères, or the fueling-station canopy rules in MX zone districts. Every EV parking space must be signed for EV vehicles only.
