Ashwaubenon, WI Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

Section 17-2-200(J) of the Village of Ashwaubenon's Site Plan Approval standards governs off-street loading for warehousing, manufacturing plants, or any other buildings where large amounts of goods are received or shipped. Every required loading berth must sit off-street on the same lot as the building it serves and cannot occupy the front yard. On corner lots, berths sited at the side of a building must not conflict with pedestrian movement and cannot obstruct the view of the public right-of-way from off-street parking access. Each berth must be at least 55 feet long, exclusive of aisle and maneuvering space, with at least 15 feet of vertical clearance, and the surface must be bituminous asphalt or concrete under Section 17-2-200(J)(3).

A loading space cannot be counted toward a project's separate off-street parking requirement under Section 17-2-200(J)(4): the two are calculated independently. Loading facilities must be effectively screened from the street and adjoining parking under the same screening standard applied to parking lots, and any plant material used for that screening has to meet the landscape plan specifications elsewhere in the Article. Maintenance of the loading space, accessways, striping, landscaping, screening and required fences is a joint responsibility of the property's lessee and owner under Section 17-2-200(J)(8).

If damage, destruction, increased use or any other change forces a change of use in an existing loading facility, that change must go back to the Site Plan Review Committee for approval before it proceeds.
