Sec. 74-243(c) states: "It shall be unlawful for any person to leave or cause to be left any automobile or vehicle for more than 48 hours in any public street. If any such person fails to remove the automobile or vehicle within 24 hours after being notified to do so by any police officer, every day which shall elapse thereafter without such removal shall constitute a separate offense." The rule applies citywide to any public street, not just residential blocks, and does not require special no-parking signage since the 48-hour cap is a standing citywide rule.

Enforcement runs through the general parking-ticket process at Sec. 74-255: a police officer tags the vehicle with a notice of an illegal-parking violation carrying a $30.00 fine, payable to the police department's central records office or the city treasurer, with five calendar days to pay or to contest the notice in person. As an alternative to ticketing, Sec. 74-243(e) lets the city or a private property owner have the vehicle towed to a licensed garage instead, provided a police officer is notified simultaneously with the tow, and the owner can be billed the removal and storage fee. Because subsection (c) treats each day beyond the 24-hour notice period as its own separate offense, a vehicle left indefinitely can accumulate multiple $30.00 citations rather than a single flat fine.
