Cincinnati, OH Parking Rules: Overnight Parking (2026)

Cincinnati's traffic code addresses overnight and extended on-street parking through a citywide time limit rather than a curfew. Municipal Code § 508-12, "Parking Unreasonable Time," bars leaving any vehicle on a highway, which under the traffic code includes ordinary city streets, for longer than 24 straight hours, whether or not a sign is posted. Vehicles parked in metered spaces or designated loading zones fall under Chapter 509 and cannot sit longer than 14 hours even though the meter itself may only regulate a shorter interval.

The rule carves out one exception: vehicles that display a valid removable windshield disability placard, special disability plates, or the required validation stickers issued under Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4503 (or an equivalent from another state) may remain parked up to 36 hours before the clock runs out. 04 and § 515-3, processes the ticket. Anyone who wants to fight the citation can file a written answer and, if denied, appeal to the Office of Administrative Hearings, a unit of the city Solicitor's Office that hears parking-ticket appeals under § 515-1-O.

Because § 508-12 also references signs "erected as otherwise authorized," a vehicle can still be cited sooner than 24 hours if it sits in a spot with its own posted time restriction, such as a residential permit zone or a shorter-duration sign.
