Lyon County, NV Parking Rules: Overnight Parking (2026)

Lyon County Code § 8.04.04.C, the county's 'All Night Parking' rule, makes it unlawful for an owner, driver or any person in charge of a motor vehicle to cause or permit the vehicle to be or remain parked at the curb between four o'clock A.M. and six o'clock A.M. on streets that are signed and posted to that effect in unincorporated Lyon County, Nevada. Because the restriction only attaches where the County Commissioners have authorized posting, it functions as a targeted tool for specific blocks the County has flagged for overnight congestion, snow-removal access or safety concerns, rather than a blanket county-wide curfew on parking.

The same chapter layers other numeric limits on top of the overnight rule: § 8.04.05.A caps unposted zones at one hour once signed, and § 8.04.05.B separately limits any vehicle to seventy-two consecutive hours on a street other than U.S. Highway 40, so a car left overnight on an unposted street can still draw a citation once it passes 72 hours. Owners as well as drivers are liable, and the Lyon County Sheriff's Office is the enforcing agency for both the signed overnight ban and the 72-hour rule across Dayton, Silver Springs, Stagecoach, Mound House and Smith Valley.
