Lyon County, NV Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Lyon County Code § 8.04.02 lists the specific places where stopping, standing or parking a vehicle is unlawful on county streets in unincorporated Lyon County, Nevada, covering Dayton, Silver Springs, Stagecoach, Mound House and Smith Valley. The rule reaches both drivers and owners who let a driver park unlawfully, whether the vehicle is attended or unattended, except when a driver must stop to avoid conflicting with a Sheriff's deputy's directions or a traffic-control device. Listed no-parking locations include within an intersection, on a crosswalk, on a sidewalk, within twenty feet of a fire station driveway, within fifteen feet of a fire hydrant, in front of a private driveway, alongside a street excavation or obstruction that would block traffic, on the roadway side of another parked vehicle, in a traffic lane so as to obstruct it, between the curb and the property line, within twenty feet of a two-street intersection, and within three feet of a street-and-alley intersection.

Section 8.04.03 separately requires parking parallel to the curb within eighteen inches of the curb line, wheels headed with traffic, unless angle parking is posted. Together the sections give Public Works and the Sheriff's Office a numeric basis for tagging or citing a car blocking a neighbor's driveway or sitting too close to an intersection.
