Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ Parking Rules: Overnight Parking (2026)

Section 405-17(A) of the Parsippany-Troy Hills Township Code sets the overnight limit. Trucks over one-ton rated capacity shall not be parked or stored on the streets of the Township between the hours of 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The wording covers both parking and storing, so leaving a loaded or empty truck at the curb for the night is a violation whether or not anyone is near it.

The trigger is the truck's rated capacity, one ton, not its gross weight. That is a lower line than the one in the opening paragraph of the same section, which keeps buses, recreational vehicles, campers and boats exceeding four tons GVWR out of the right-of-way of any Township street unless the vehicle is actively engaged in providing a service or making deliveries or pickups. Drivers in Parsippany-Troy Hills who bring a work truck home should read subsection A as a separate, stricter overnight rule for trucks.

The ordinance applies to streets of the Township of Parsippany-Troy Hills in Morris County, New Jersey, and the Township Council adopted it as part of Chapter 405. Street-specific overnight closures come from the tables in the same chapter. For example, the § 405-15 table lists the Mt. Tabor area (all streets), both sides, from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., with exceptions for designated spaces along the curb of Simpson Avenue and streets listed in § 405-14. The § 405-12 table sets time limits on named streets, and § 405-14 lists streets where parking is prohibited at all times.

Section 405-8(A) adds that the chapter's time limits do not relieve any person of more restrictive provisions in N.J.S.A. 39:4-138, any other New Jersey statute, or later provisions of the chapter.
