06(9)(d)4 of the City of Middleton Municipal Code allows a recreational vehicle associated with and customary to residential uses to be parked like a passenger vehicle, but it cannot be utilized for human occupation or for storage of goods, materials, or equipment other than what is part of the RV or essential to its function, so an RV cannot double as a guest house or storage shed. Subsection (a) bars parking or storing any recreational equipment, meaning RVs, boats, and their trailers, within the front yard or corner side yard of a residential district unless the equipment sits on a driveway meeting the section's requirements; a boat or camper simply pulled onto the lawn or an unpaved area is not allowed.

Subsection (b) opens up the rear yard and interior side yard to any surface for storage, and adds a special rule for corner lots: if the rear yard of a corner lot backs up to the side yard of a neighboring house, recreational equipment stored there cannot sit closer to the street than that neighbor's own required front setback. The tightest restriction targets oversized equipment: subsection (c) caps recreational equipment longer than 30 feet, measured including any trailer it rides on, to no more than 7 days outdoors in any 30-day period, unless it is actively being loaded, unloaded, cleaned, or prepped for use or storage. 06(7)(f), which requires concrete or asphalt pads for recreation equipment trailer storage and any motorized recreational vehicle not on a trailer.
