Rowlett's Development Code (Sec. 22-263) limits residential lots to one recreational vehicle, requires it be parked behind the front of the house, and mandates hard, dustless surfaces for RVs, boats and hauling trailers.
The City of Rowlett regulates residential storage of recreational vehicles, boats and trailers under Section 22-263 of the Rowlett Development Code, as summarized in the city's published 'Common Code Violations' guide from Neighborhood Services. Not more than one recreational vehicle may be parked or stored on a parcel at one time unless the lot is one acre or larger, and the recreational vehicle must be parked or stored behind the front of the dwelling. Surface requirements are specific: hauling trailers for boats or other purposes must sit on a dustless surface of concrete or asphalt pad, brick or patio pavers, or cased-in gravel at least six inches deep, with the access apron built of the same material. All recreational vehicles and motorized vehicles must be parked on a concrete surface. Every such vehicle must be set at least three feet from the rear property line, and on corner lots may not be stored on any side adjacent to a street. The required pad must be equal to or larger than the trailer or vehicle plus any permanently attached towing mechanism. Enforcement is handled by Rowlett Neighborhood Services / Code Enforcement, and a 'Parking Violation' citation can be issued under Section 22-263(3)A,D when a vehicle is not on an approved surface.
Code Enforcement issues notices for storing more than one RV, parking an RV in front of the building line, or placing trailers/RVs on grass or bare dirt instead of an approved dustless or concrete surface. Citations reference Section 22-263 of the Rowlett Development Code.
