Sandy Springs, GA Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

City Code Sec. 58-40, in Chapter 58's truck-routes article, governs storage of vehicles, trailers and equipment on residential-zoned property citywide. Two conditions trigger the ban: the vehicle, trailer or equipment carries no current license plates, or it has sat inoperable for more than 30 days. Either condition makes it unlawful to park or store that vehicle, trailer or equipment on or about any residential-zoned property, which reaches an unlicensed boat trailer or RV parked in a driveway or side yard just as it reaches a junked car.

The section carves out one exception: it does not apply to a vehicle, trailer or equipment stored inside an enclosed structure, such as a garage, or appropriately covered and located in the rear yard area. A boat or camper that is currently licensed and operable is not reached by this section at all; the trigger is the licensing/inoperability status, not the vehicle type or its presence on a driveway. The provision dates to the city's original 2005 incorporation ordinance and sits in Article II alongside the commercial-vehicle parking rule, with a general Code penalty under section 1-10 for violations of the article.
