Section 29-35 lists the places a vehicle may never stop or stand on a New Haven street: within an intersection or 25 feet of one, on a crosswalk, in front of and obstructing a driveway, obstructing traffic generally, within 10 feet of a hydrant, within 25 feet of a stop sign, on a sidewalk, in a handicapped space without a permit, or in one spot for more than 72 consecutive hours. Section 29-38 separately requires a stopped vehicle to face the direction of legal traffic movement and sit parallel and close to the curb, the basis for the city's 'wrong way on a one-way street' and 'wrong side of street' fines.
