Inglewood, CA Public Conduct: Loud Party Ordinance (2026)

Municipal Code § 8-139(1) states flatly: 'No party house rentals or uses allowed.' Section 8-137 defines a 'party house' as any dwelling, its curtilage, or 'any part of the residence, or property that is leased or rented for the purpose of holding parties or gatherings of the type that hotel ballrooms or other event spaces are typically rented; or where there is a loud or unruly gathering.' A 'loud or unruly gathering' is further defined as one at, or within fifty feet of, a dwelling unit that involves 'loud or unruly conduct' and 'threatens or interferes with the public health, safety or welfare, or the comfortable enjoyment of life and property.' 'Loud or unruly conduct' is itself defined broadly to include loud noise, blocking a sidewalk or street, public intoxication, underage drinking or alcohol service, fighting or domestic violence, vandalism, littering, public urination or defecation, trespassing, and unlawful drug possession.

Under § 8-141(6), every short-term rental host must 'take responsibility for and actively prevent, or immediately abate (within one hour) any nuisance activities' arising from the rental, and § 8-141(11) requires hosts to brief guests on noise rules and quiet hours before check-in. A 'local contact person' at least twenty-five years old must be reachable around the clock and respond to complaints within sixty minutes under § 8-137. Because this ban sits inside Article 11's short-term rental chapter, it governs Airbnb-style rentals rather than owner-occupied households generally.
