Grand Prairie, TX Public Conduct: Outdoor Smoking Restrictions (2026)

Sec. 13-132 makes it an offense to smoke in seventeen enumerated categories of places, several of them outdoors: outdoor sports arenas, stadiums and amphitheaters (item 14); enclosed sections of outdoor arenas (13); library, museum and gallery grounds (9); and within 25 feet of any outside entrance, operable window or ventilation system of an enclosed area where smoking is already prohibited (15). Sec. 13-133 separately bans smoking on any city-owned or operated facility, ground, vehicle or work site, covering employees, visitors, volunteers and contractors alike, but the ordinance builds in a defense to prosecution for smoking at Loyd Park campsites, Lynn Creek Park, and on-course areas of city golf facilities, and lets the city manager grant venue-specific variances.

Sec. 13-134 then carves out where smoking is still legal: private residences, private clubs, up to 25% of hotel/motel rooms designated for smoking, Lone Star Park, bowling centers outside junior-league hours, and outdoor dining patios that are more than 25 feet from a covered entrance, window or vent and not immediately adjacent to a children's play area. Owners of any facility where smoking is regulated must post signage under Sec. 13-135, and smoke from a legal smoking area is barred from infiltrating a no-smoking area next door.
