Grand Junction, CO Public Conduct: Public Urination (2026)

Section 9.04.180, 'Indecent exposure,' makes it unlawful to commit a lewd or indecent act in the City, and it lists urinating in public, at subsection (f), among the acts that violate the section when done in a public place or where the conduct could reasonably be expected to be viewed by members of the public. The same subsection list also covers acts of sexual intercourse, carnal copulation, being willfully nude, wearing indecent or lewd dress, indecent exposure of a person's own or another's 'intimate parts,' defined as the external genitalia, anus, buttocks, pubes, or breasts, lewd fondling of another's body, and intentional exposure of genitals to view; subsection (g) extends liability to anyone who aids, suffers or permits any of those acts.

The section does not carve out a separate, lesser charge for public urination alone; it is charged under the same indecent-exposure provision as the other listed acts. The current wording traces to Ordinance 3312 (2000) and Ordinance 3202 (1999), amending the 1994 and 1965 codes (former § 24-18 and § 19-15), and it sits in Chapter 9.04's 'Offenses' article alongside disorderly conduct, trespass and other public-order violations the Grand Junction Police Department enforces.
