Canton Codified Ordinances § 311.03 provides that no person upon roller skates or riding in or by means of any coaster, toy vehicle, skateboard or similar device shall go upon any roadway except while crossing a street on a crosswalk. The section sits in Chapter 311 of the Traffic Code, immediately after the parade and assembly permit rule, and applies citywide to any roadway rather than to a single business district. The ordinance does not create a permit or registration scheme; it is a flat prohibition on using these devices in the roadway itself, leaving sidewalks and off-street areas outside its reach.

Because the rule is written around 'roadway' rather than 'sidewalk,' a skater or skateboarder crossing at a marked crosswalk is expressly exempted, but any other use of the travel lanes, including riding along the edge of a street, falls under the ban. The Canton Police Department enforces the section as part of general traffic law enforcement, and it is listed among the misdemeanor traffic offenses that escalate with repeat violations within a year, the same escalation pattern used throughout Chapter 311 for the adjoining parade-permit and street-obstruction sections.
