" Beyond City Hall, the city council may designate other locations or times where these devices cannot be used on sidewalks or other public property, but any such additional restriction must be posted on signs within the designated area before it is enforceable. Any device used contrary to the section may be confiscated by police. Release procedures differ by age: an adult 18 or older can retrieve a confiscated skateboard or skates by appearing at the police department with proper identification, while anyone under 18 must appear with a parent or guardian, unless no parent or guardian lives in the city, in which case a notarized letter from a parent or guardian requesting release will suffice.
