Lawton, OK Short-Term Rentals: Noise Rules (2026)

Sec. 7-27-1-2704(B) sets stricter noise standards for short-term rentals in residentially zoned districts than for hotels generally. Subsection (B)(3) provides that such rentals 'shall not adversely affect the residential character of the neighborhood, nor shall the use generate noise, vibration, glare, odors, or other effects that unreasonable interfere with any person's enjoyment of his or her residence.' Subsection (B)(4) goes further, flatly stating that 'a licensee or guest of a short-term rental shall not use or allow use of sound equipment, amplified music and musical instruments,' an outright ban rather than a decibel limit. Sec. 7-27-1-2704(B)(1) additionally bars using the rental for commercial or social events, closing off the loud-party use case entirely. Sec. 7-27-1-2705(7) requires the license holder to post, in a prominent guest-visible spot and in a written packet, the 'noise restriction, including prohibition on the use of sound equipment, amplified music and musical instrument,' so every guest sees the rule before an event could start.
