Lawton, OK Short-Term Rentals: Short-Term Rental Permits (2026)

Lawton City Code Sec. 7-27-1-2701 makes it unlawful to 'conduct, engage in, or operate in any manner a hotel or other short-term rental within the city' without first obtaining a license, and defines the covered use broadly to include vacation rental homes, transient guest homes, tourist homes, corporate lodgings and any room rented to the public for consideration, while excluding hospitals, sanitariums and nursing homes. The license renews annually, in addition to the certificate of registration required under Chapter 10, Article 10-12 (Sec. 7-27-1-2701(C)-(D)). Applicants must submit their name and address, the property's address and legal description, and a site plan showing lot size, building location, parking areas and access, and any proposed modifications (Sec.

7-27-1-2702). Every new or renewal application triggers investigations into zoning, fire and safety, building and safety, and health and safety compliance, with written findings, before the code enforcement official can approve it (Sec. 7-27-1-2703). Licenses are reviewed and can be terminated by the city manager's office and expire annually on the license's anniversary date (Sec. 7-27-1-2706).
