Garage sale signs are considered temporary signs and must comply with the code's provisions for placement, size, and duration. Signs may not be placed on public rights-of-way, utility poles, traffic signs, or public property. The sign code requires that temporary signs not obstruct sight lines or create safety hazards. Signs should be placed only on the property where the sale is occurring or on private property with the owner's permission. The sign permit system (Sec. 18-77) may apply to certain types of temporary signs.
