Full Breakdown
100(K) governs window signs in the CO, CN, CG, CD, CL, CA, IG, IL, PF, MX, and UC zoning districts. Permanent window signs are allowed only on windows located on the ground level and second story of a structure's frontage. 100(J), so a heavily glazed storefront cannot separately max out both its wall sign allowance and a full 35 percent of window area on top of it. 100(I). Residential zoning districts (RE, RL, RM, RH) are not on the list of districts where window signs are allowed, so this provision functions as a commercial and industrial-district rule; a business on Pacific Avenue or in the Miracle Mile commercial strip calculates its window coverage against the same wall-sign area cap that governs its exterior signage, not a separate window-only allowance.
Violations & Fines
Window signage covering more than 35 percent of a window wall's area, permanent window signs on stories above the second floor, or window signs in a district not listed in § 16.76.100(K) exceeds the standard and is subject to the chapter's sign-permit revocation and enforcement provisions under § 16.76.040(C).
