Kenner, LA Special Events & Permits: Parade Permits (2026)

Sec. 13-24 makes it unlawful to organize, stage, schedule, or participate in any parade within the City of Kenner without first obtaining a permit. Sec. 13-25 requires the application, developed by the mayor or the mayor's designee, to be filed at least 180 days before the scheduled parade date, and Sec. 13-26 has the city council approve or deny the permit after weighing health, safety, traffic interruption, police staffing needs, and cleanup costs. Before a permit issues, Sec. 13-30 requires the applicant to secure the Kenner police chief's and fire chief's approval of the parade route, approval from the state highway department for any state-controlled roads on the route, and approval from utility companies whose lines need protection.

Each parade organization must carry $1,000,000.00 in general liability insurance per occurrence with a $3,000,000.00 aggregate, plus $3,000,000.00 combined single limit auto liability, naming the City of Kenner as an additional insured. A permit will not issue unless the parade has at least ten floats with ten riders each, a krewe of at least 200 riding members, and at least eight marching bands (Sec. 13-30(6)). Permit holders must also pay for police and fire security details at set hourly rates and provide their own traffic control and security guards at their own expense (Sec. 13-18).
