Ogden, UT Special Events & Permits: Park Event Permits (2026)

Ogden City Code 6-1-1 authorizes the Mayor to establish reasonable rules and regulations for the use, control, management and protection of public parks, squares, playgrounds, stadiums, amphitheaters, golf courses, trails and other city recreational facilities, effective once filed with the city recorder. Under subsection B, the Mayor may impose reasonable limitations on use and require a facility use agreement or written permit for use by any public or private group, organization, body politic, corporation or association, and may reserve a portion of grounds or facilities for a group's exclusive use for a reasonable time when it is in the public interest.

Rules for special events specifically must be consistent with Chapter 5 of the same title. Section 6-1-2 requires the fees set in Title 4, Chapter 6 to be collected for park facilities designated as available on a reservation basis, other recreational and community facilities on a reservation basis, and city-operated recreational programs. Reserved venues such as the MTC Learning Park, Ogden Eccles Dinosaur Park and the Ogden Amphitheater can also carry an alcoholic beverage permit issued at the discretion of the community services director under 6-1-9, subject to conditions including a minimum age of 21, licensed private security, a damage deposit, a permit fee, and a ban on public sales or open-to-the-public events.
