Old Bridge, NJ Special Events & Permits: Park Event Permits (2026)

Old Bridge treats use of its parks, athletic fields, recreation buildings and beaches as a permitted activity, not an open right, and spreads the rules across two chapters. For beach parties, § 52-4 requires an applicant to apply for and receive written permission from the Township Manager or the Manager's designee before holding the gathering. For recreation buildings, athletic fields and picnic groves, § 160-3A gives the department head of the Recreation Department or a designee full discretion to approve or deny any application to use a recreation facility, and the same official can waive utility and custodial charges, but only for charitable or nonprofit organizations.

Once approved, the fee schedule in the same article applies: recreation building rentals run $20 to $240 depending on room and event class, with hourly supervisor and refundable security-deposit charges layered on for larger 'Class C' affairs and meetings. Athletic field reservations under § 160-6 are free for Little League, youth softball and Board of Education or bona fide charity games, but Township-sanctioned leagues pay $10 per daytime game and $25 lighted, while private or commercial teams pay $10 daytime and $50 lighted. Picnic reservations under § 160-7 cost $50 for residents and $100 for nonresidents, plus a refundable $25 security fee, with all fees collected by the Tax Collector under § 160-8.
