Ramapo, NY Special Events & Permits: Park Event Permits (2026)

Town Code § 195-12 makes a Parks and Recreation permit the gateway for camping, fires, boating or ice skating on park waters, powered model use, and any group or team reservation. Groups seeking a permit can be required to show proof of liability insurance and, at the Town Attorney's request, to indemnify the Town against claims arising from their use of the facility. Fees follow the Town Board's Standard Schedule of Fees, permits are nontransferable, and no refund is issued for an unused permit once the date has passed if someone else lost the chance to use that slot.

Deposits come back only after Parks and Recreation staff inspects the facility. A "large group event", defined as a field day, carnival, concert, address, rally, dramatic presentation or similar gathering of more than 25 people, needs a written application filed with the Director of Parks and Recreation at least two weeks before the event, though the Director may waive that lead time at his discretion. The application must state the event's duration and the approximate number of attendees. Every large-event permit fixes the time and park area and can restrict sound amplification equipment and volume based on the size of the crowd and the risk of disturbing other park users.

Applicants agree in advance to follow the Town's conditions on traffic, alcohol, noise and crowd control. Official Department or Town functions always take priority over previously scheduled usage patterns.
