Ramapo, NY Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Ramapo's on-street parking rules sit in Chapter 267, Vehicles and Traffic, which by its own terms governs only the unincorporated area of the Town and does not reach the incorporated villages inside Ramapo's borders. Section 267-9A bars any vehicle from standing, parking or remaining unattended in an established fire zone or a marked no-parking area, except while actually loading or unloading passengers, materials or goods; a violation lets the Police Department or the zoning enforcement official under § 376-140 issue an appearance ticket or a Ramapo Justice Court traffic summons, and the registered owner is presumed to be the person who parked the vehicle.

Beyond fire zones, § 267-9B lets the Chief of Police restrict parking on specific streets, roads and highways and set time limits, backed by posted signs, and gives the Police and Highway Departments authority to impose further restrictions during winter snow removal. Section 267-9C creates parking permit zones: parking there from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, requires a permit issued by the Town Clerk and displayed on the left rear window, available only to Town residents, non-transferable, and requiring a separate permit for each vehicle. Section 267-9D separately protects reserved employee and official parking spaces at Ramapo Town Hall.

Blocking access is covered elsewhere in the same chapter: § 267-11D prohibits parking in front of any private driveway, and within 10 feet measured along the curb of the entrance to a theater, auditorium, church, other public building or firehouse, except for the reasonable time needed to load or discharge passengers or merchandise. Vehicles violating the chapter may be towed under § 267-11A at the registered owner's expense.
