Ramapo, NY Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

Section 376-76, titled Storage of house trailers and boats, is a single, tightly written rule inside Ramapo's parking and loading article. It permits exactly one unit at a time: one house trailer, recreational vehicle or boat, and boat trailer may be parked or stored in an unenclosed space on any developed residential lot. Location matters as much as the count: the vehicle has to sit behind the front setback line or any required yard, so it cannot be stored in the front yard or within a side or rear setback area even on a large lot.

The section closes off alternatives with a blanket restriction: all other parking, storage or use of such vehicles is prohibited. That means a homeowner cannot keep a second boat, a second trailer, or an RV in addition to the one permitted unit, and cannot store any of these vehicles anywhere else on the property unless another provision of the chapter separately allows it. The section also forecloses a common workaround directly: the use of such a vehicle for dwelling purposes is prohibited, so an RV, trailer or boat kept on a Ramapo lot under this section cannot be lived in, even temporarily, regardless of hookups or utility connections.
