Ramapo, NY Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Section 376-75 regulates how many commercial vehicles a residence can keep and where. Subsection A allows not more than one commercial vehicle, of 25 feet or less in length, to be parked on a developed lot in any residence district, but that vehicle cannot sit within the required yards of the lot, and it can never be placed between the street line and the principal building, keeping commercial trucks out of view from the street.

Subsection B gives a separate allowance for vehicles kept out of sight: not more than one commercial vehicle of 25 feet or less in length may be parked within a private garage in any residence district. Read together with Subsection A, a Ramapo homeowner in a residence district can potentially keep two commercial vehicles on a developed lot: one outdoors, outside required yards and not between the street and the house, and a second one fully enclosed in a garage.

Two further limits round out the section. Subsection C permits commercial vehicles as accessory to a commercial farm use in any residence district, but even then they cannot be stored or parked within any required yard. Subsection D is an absolute bar: no commercial vehicle shall be parked or stored on any unimproved lot, regardless of size or use, closing off vacant land as a workaround for excess commercial vehicle storage.
