Plantation, FL Special Events & Permits: Street Fair Rules (2026)

Section 27-306(b)(2) governs bazaars, exhibitions, fairs, and festivals of a non-commercial nature. These events may be held on private property that is not zoned residential, and the City's stated intent is to let local educational, charitable, recreational, or religious organizations made up largely of Plantation residents put on noise-controlled, low-intensity, locally-sponsored and locally-operated social or charitable events open to the public, so long as all profit from the event is channeled into local religious, charitable, educational, or recreational uses that directly benefit Plantation citizens. Each site principally devoted to a religious, charitable, educational, or recreational use is capped at twelve permits per January-through-December calendar year for events with any outdoor component.

Entertainment is limited to music, dancing, small stage performances or contests, games, booths, exhibits, amusement devices, and food and refreshments, all subject to prior City approval, including approval of the beneficiary of any profit if that beneficiary is not a Plantation house of worship or a charitable or educational program with a direct, substantial impact on Plantation citizens. Rides are not permitted at all under this subsection, a stricter line than the discretionary allowance for commercial carnivals. Locally-sponsored and locally-operated fairs, festivals, or bazaars cannot proceed without event approval in advance from the Administration, which may attach conditions and safeguards including dates and times of operation, after considering the advice of the public safety departments and PZED; an applicant who disagrees with the Administration's decision can ask the City Council for a discretionary review.
