St. Peters, MO Trash & Recycling: Bin Placement Rules (2026)

Section 235.090(B)(3)(e) of the St. Peters Municipal Code requires customers to place City solid waste or yard waste containers in an accessible spot at the curb, kept at least four feet from any obstacle, including a mailbox, utility pole, landscaping, or a parked vehicle. Section 235.090(B)(4) then governs where collection actually happens: solid waste containers holding residential waste, and any waste set out for special collection, must go in an easily accessible location the Director designates, adjacent to the property at the back of the curb, the edge of the roadway, or immediately next to an alley, and again at least four feet from any obstruction.

Waste placed for collection may never sit inside a building or structure. A customer who needs more than one container, whether because of volume or because several units in one building share the account, must place every container at the same spot on the premises so the collector makes one stop. Customers with a physical disability may request, in writing with certification, a special City container and non-curbside collection under Section 235.090(B)(12); that waste must instead sit at ground level or on a platform no more than four feet high, reachable from the ground, and the City will collect from only one location on those premises.
