St. Peters, MO Trash & Recycling: Bulk Item Disposal (2026)

Section 235.090(B)(10) of the St. Peters Municipal Code establishes the City's special collection service for bulky items. Every residential customer receives one special collection per calendar quarter at no additional charge, on a schedule the Director sets and publishes; the service is meant for items too large to fit a standard City solid waste container or yard waste container, and for yard waste such as tree limbs over one inch in diameter or Christmas trees too big for a disposable container. Customers must place special-collection material in an easily accessible spot the Director designates, immediately adjacent to the residential property at the back of the curb, the edge of the roadway, or next to an alley.

Yard waste set out for special collection must be piled separately from other solid waste and kept at least four feet from any obstruction. A customer who needs bulky-item pickup on a day other than the assigned quarterly date can arrange contract collection instead, provided prior contractual arrangements are made with the City. The Director of the City's solid waste program administers the quarterly schedule and can also provide for collection of solid waste at multiple housing facilities under Section 235.030(A)(3). Improperly mixing bulky material with regular weekly solid waste, or placing it outside the special collection window, is enforceable as a violation of this Chapter under Section 235.080.
