St. Peters, MO Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

Section 235.020(D) of the St. Peters Municipal Code governs how residents must store yard waste between collections. Leaves, grass clippings, garden vegetation, brush and tree limbs under one inch in diameter, and Christmas trees cut into lengths of three feet or less, must go into a yard waste container, which Section 235.020(C) specifies is a separate, vented receptacle from the regular solid waste container. Yard waste too large for that container, including tree limbs over one inch in diameter, whole Christmas trees, and other oversized material, must instead be piled separately in lengths not exceeding eight feet for the City's bulky collection service, and it cannot be mixed with regular solid waste.

All yard waste, whether containerized or piled, must be stored so it does not disperse onto the served premises, adjacent premises, or adjacent public rights-of-way. The Director may also allow disposable yard waste containers for leaf or garden waste at certain times of year. Every solid waste container, including yard waste containers, must be inspected and permitted annually by the City under Section 235.060, except containers the City itself owns and provides. City collection of yard waste runs on a Director-set schedule under Section 235.090(B)(9), and depositing yard waste into a City solid waste container meant for regular trash is unlawful under Section 235.090(B)(5) and (6)(f).
