Caldwell, ID Trash & Recycling: Bulk Item Disposal (2026)

Caldwell City Code section 07-01-09(3)A(1) requires the city's contracted hauler to provide special collection from residential units of bulky waste, construction debris and stable matter, meaning manure and similar animal waste, in addition to the standard weekly curbside pickup. The same subsection lets the contractor, at its sole discretion, also arrange special collection of dead animals and hazardous waste from residential units, on whatever terms the contractor specifies; the City does not guarantee that service, so residents should confirm timing and any charge with the hauler before setting bulky items at the curb.

Not everything qualifies for bulky-item pickup. Section 07-01-09(7), Materials Not Acceptable For Collection, excludes dirt or earth debris from construction or lawn renovation, rocks, stones, automobile bodies and parts, dead animals, and building materials such as masonry, plaster, scrap lumber and wood shavings; the code assigns disposal of those items to the building contractor, owner, or occupant of the premises rather than the city's residential hauler. Commercial and industrial customers are handled separately: section 07-01-09(3)B lets the contractor arrange special collection of dead animals and hazardous waste at commercial and industrial units at its own discretion, on routes and schedules set by individual agreement rather than the residential weekly cycle.

Fees for any special collection ride on the same billing mechanism as regular refuse charges, appearing on the combined water, sewer and refuse account under section 07-01-09(4), and the City may shut off water service if that combined bill goes unpaid.
